Idaho Falls Earth Day
The Idaho Falls 2011 Earth Day Youth Bike Rodeo was held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Tautphaus Park (next to Funland) on the asphalt pad (old skate park).
Sixy-four (64) youth participated and completed the course. Participants entered a drawing to win a youth bike helmet and fifty (50) were given away.
Bike Rodeo The concept of the Bike Rodeo is to teach bicycle safety and the rules of the road to young cyclists by working with the community and providing information for Safe Routes to School (SR2S), International Walk to School Day and Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and Facility maps.
Bike Rodeo stations included: Bike Check from a bike mechanic, Bike/Helmet Fitting, Safety Talk, Starts and Stops, Scanning, Rock Dodge, Demon Driveway, Crazy Crossroads, and Putting it all Together with a bike ride through the park escorted by a Bicycle Officer.
