IDAHO FALLS FIRE MARSHAL KEN ANDERSON

Ken Anderson

 

 Fire Marshal Anderson began his career with the Idaho Falls Fire Department in September of 1985. He began his fire service career at the age of 16 serving as a volunteer firefighter. His career with the Idaho Falls Fire Department began as a probationary firefighter. He has served for many years as a Paramedic and was promoted to the rank of Driver in 1992. Ken transferred to the Fire Prevention Bureau in 2002 and was promoted to Fire Inspector I, then Fire Inspector II and currently serves as our Fire Marshal, a position he has held since 2007.

 

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

January 2010

  • Attended the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD to assist in developing (2) National training courses: Plan review for Fire Protection Systems and Forensic Evidence Collection

February 2010

  • Fire Prevention Officer of the Year for the State of Idaho

July 2010

  • Volunteer peer reviewer for several firefighter grant review funding projects

November 2010

  • Selected by the Director of the U.S. Fire Administration as a candidate to assist in developing a national curriculum for electrical aspects of fire investigation

January 2011

  • Contributing author and reviewer for the International Association of Fire Chiefs, International Association of Arson Investigators and National FIre Protection Association's new textbook FIRE INVESTIGATOR - Principles and Practice to NFPA 921 and 1033 3rd Edition

March 2011

  • Recipient of the United Way Seward H. "Skip" French Award for community service
  • Serves as President of the State of Idaho Fire Prevention Officers

October 2011

  • Certified by the International Code Council (ICC) as Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II and Certified Fire Plans Examiner
  • Currently working on (2) additional certifications in a 5 year program for Certified Fire Marshal
