Payment Programs
Level Billing ProgramThe City of Idaho Falls offers a Level Billing Program for those residential and small commercial customers who like to budget. This program estimates what your average monthly payment for the next year will be. First, the electricity consumption for the previous 12-month period is multiplied by the current rate (or rate that will be in effect) to estimate electricity costs. Then the other flat rate utility charges (garbage, water, sewer, seasonal sprinkling) are added in. The sum is divided by 12 to arrive at the average monthly cost you will be billed each month. Level Billing DOES NOT LOWER your utility bill. It does provide a method to make budgeting your utility expenses easier. You know in advance how much you will be expected to pay each month, and you can even out those large winter heating or summer cooling bills. Your level pay amount will be reviewed periodically and adjusted if unusual circumstances arise, as well as on an annual basis in May. You are also welcome to make adjustments to the monthly amount if you know of mitigating conditions which may lower or increase the amount of the bill. Just contact us and let us know. If you wish to participate in this program, contact the Utility Billing Office for a copy of the Level Billing Program Agreement. For new customers, it is best to begin the program after you have lived at your current address for one year, and to sign up for the program in the Spring. This will prevent large adjustments to the level pay amount during the first year or so. However, you are still free to sign up at any time, just be aware of possible adjustment until your usage pattern settles in.
Auto Pay ProgramThe Automatic Payment Program allows City of Idaho Falls customers to have their utility charges deducted directly from their bank account each month. Upon written authorization, your financial institution will automatically deduct your utility charges from your account and transfer the payment directly to the Citys account. The Utilities Department will continue to send a copy of the monthly billing, so you will know what your consumption was and how much was deducted from your account. If you wish to participate in the program, call 612-8280, or come into the Utility Billing Office at 308 Constitution Way to complete an authorization form. Click here for a map.
