Polar Bear Swim Team
The Wes Deist Aquatic Center’s Polar Bear Swim Team is for grades K – 6th. There will be two different teams that the swimmers can register for. Practices will be coached at the swimmer’s level. Teams will be made up of a maximum of 34 swimmers. Swimmers will have 11 practices and 1 swim meet. Participants must be able to swim both front crawl and backstroke at least 25 yards, & across the deep end with good form (most practices will be swam in the 25 yd lanes).
The program goal is to provide participants with the opportunity to become better swimmers, develop sportsmanship, improve physical fitness, and have fun in a low competitive environment. Practicing the 4 competitive strokes with correct starts and turns will be emphasized. Swimmers participate in events according to their age groups (K-3rd & 4th-6th). Swimmers must be registered team members and attend practices to be eligible to swim in the meet. To help keep the program affordable, swimmers are not required to purchase team suits or travel long distances to meets.
Polar Bear Team Information
Polar Cubs
This is a program for children ages 7 & under, who are not ready to be on the Polar Bear Swim Team. It is designed for those younger brothers and sisters of the Polar Bear Swim Team participants to take some swimming lessons while your older sibling is doing swim team. Pike, Eel, Ray & Polliwog level swimmers will be accepted. Skills for these levels (such as breath control, front & back floating, kicking & arm stroke) will be taught in a 40 minute session. It will run once a week for 5 classes. Skill levels may be grouped together with other participants with similar skill levels, depending on participant registrations. All classes will be taught in the shallow end of the pool. There will be a mini meet in shallow end, the last day of class. Maximum of 6 kids per coach. Maximum of 12 students will be taken for each team. Two coaches will be provided as soon as the 7th participant registers, otherwise, there will only be one coach. There must be a minimum of 4 registered participants for program to run.

Jr. High Swim Team
The Jr. High Swim Team Program is a competitive swimming program for swimmers in the 5th – 9th grades. Swimmers compete on teams that correspond to their Jr. High/Middle School boundaries. (Swimmers attending Private or Charter Schols or those who are homeschooled, must register for the school in which tey live for the Jr High schools listed below). Swimmers compete for their own school. With paid registration swimmers receive 20 practice sessions. Swimmers that are unable to practice during their own team’s time, may practice with a different school, attend a lap swim or a public swim (a minimum of 10 mandatory practices must be swum with own team). Each team will have a scheduled practice two times a week and will have five swim meets during the season. All swim meets will be held on Saturdays at the WD Aquatic Center.
*A minimum of 10 practices must be swum with assigned team to qualify for Championship Meet.*
Jr High Swim Team Information
Summer Swim Team & Water Polo

All of the Aquatic Center’s Summer Swim Team’s participants are coached together and divided by levels, so swimmers can be better grouped by their swimming abilities. Swimmers will be divided into 2 equal teams of for meets. A maximum of 80 spots are available. If a child misses a practice, they may make it us during a public swim. All participants MUST be able to swim both front crawl & backstroke at least 25 yards.

Junior Porpoise Club
For children between the ages of 5 & 7 years old, class time includes swimming drills, stroke development, physical fitness and conditioning, relays and some fun. Swimmers MUST be at Starfish or Guppy level. Swimmers will receive a team cap & T-shirt & will swim in Jr Porpoise meets. Jr Porpoise meets will be during practice times on July 6 & 27, 2011. They will have a Water Polo Fun Day on July 29, 2011. Jr Porpoises are invited to attend the Awards Bar-B-Q Potluck beginning around 11:00am on Saturday, July 30, 2011. Space is limited to 12 swimmers.

Water Polo
All Summer Swim Team participants (excluding Jr Porpoise Club) will be introduced to the game of Water Polo. There will be a Water Polo Team Competition held on Fri, July 22, 2011 from 3:35-6:00pm for those swimmers wishing to participate.
Junior Porpoise Club
For children between the ages of 5 and 7 years old, class time includes swimming drills, stroke development, physical fitness and conditioning, relays and games and a up to a 15-minute fun time. Swimmers will receive a team cap and T-shirt and will be allowed to swim in meets.
Water Polo
All Summer Swim Team participants (excluding Jr Porpoise Club) will be introduced to the game of Water Polo. For advanced participants there will be a Water Polo Team Competition held on Fri, July 22, 2011, time 3:35-6:00.
Registration Procedure for Summer Swim Team
Participants must register during the scheduled registration dates. If the team is full, we will take the swimmer’s name, e-mail address & phone number. If a spot opens during the Registration dates, all of the swimmers on the waiting list will be informed by e-mail of open spots. All registration is first-come-first-served. No registrations will be taken without full payment.
If one registers after the listed registration dates, the teams will have already been split into 2 groups and the new swimmers will be placed on teams according to the number of swimmers needed for each team. A family may be split into more than one team, but all teams have practices and meets at the same time.
High School Swim Team
August - November
The High School Swim Team Program is a competitive swimming program for swimmers 9th – 12th grades. Swimmers compete on teams that correspond to the attending High School’s boundaries. Swimmer’s complete for individual and team scores. During a meet within the season, the swimmer makes state qualifying time on their races, they can attend the High School State Championship Meet (which location of meet is rotated yearly from Boise and Moscow).

Established in 1997, the Cutthroat Swim Team is a year round team with swimmers of ages 6 to 21. Our mission is to foster a swimming program that provides all swimmers the opportunity to attain their goals whether at the local, regional, national or international level utilizing a program of balanced training and technical stroke improvement.
