April

  • Zoo Opens Saturday, April 14th.
  • Earth Day (April 28th, 10AM – 4PM) – Fun conservation activities in the zoo and neighboring hockey shelter. For more information:  Click Here

 May

  • Photo Safari Starts – Amateur wildlife photographers of all ages are invited to zoom in on the zoo and see what develops. Only photos taken at Tautphaus Park Zoo during the 2012 season are eligible. Entrants may enter as many photos as they wish.  Details to follow.
  • International Migratory Bird Day (May 12th, 12PM – 3PM) – Birds migrate great distances every year. Learn more about why birds migrate and why it is so important. Join us for crafts and activities focused on birds. For more information about IMBD: Click Here
  • Mother’s Day (May 13th) – Mothers admitted free with a paying child admission.
  • Bear Aware Day (May 26th, 1PM – 4PM) – Free admission for children 12 and under when they bring their teddy bear to the zoo. Enjoy a fun filled day of bear activities, crafts and games! (Previously Teddy Bear Day.)
  • Family Night Mondays (May 28th) – Come for family friendly, family focused fun! Zoo open late. Last admission 7pm, grounds close 8pm.

 June

  • World Oceans Day (June 8th, 1PM – 4PM) – We may not live next to the ocean, but our everyday lives affect it. Come to the zoo and learn more about our oceans and the zoo's cute ocean dwellers, the African black-footed penguins as well as fun crafts and games!
  • Frontier Day (June 16th, 12PM – 3PM) – Our western heritage is important to us all. Visit the zoo and explore the agricultural arts or the region with the local spinners and weavers demonstrating their skills using wool sheared from sheep. Create your own candles, leatherworking items and more!
  • Father’s Day (June 19th) – Fathers admitted free with a paying child admission.
  • Family Night Mondays (June 25th) – Come for family friendly, family focused fun! Zoo open late. Last admission 7pm, grounds close 8pm.

 July

  • Dr. Doolittle Day (July 21st, 10AM - 4PM) - Each year the Zoo Docents host this day of fun and education with games, crafts, prizes and animal encounters. More details to follow.
  • Family Night Mondays (July 23rd) – Come for family friendly, family focused fun! Zoo open late. Last admission 7pm, grounds close 8pm.
  • Zoo Concert Series (July 26th) – More details to follow.

 August

  • Seniors Day (August 1st) – Free admission for seniors 62 and over. Have a box lunch, sit under a shady tree and enjoy up close encounters and old time music. Sponsored by Lincoln Court.
  • Enrichment Day (August 4th) – See how our zoo keepers enrich the lives of our animals with a variety of activities designed to mentally and physically stimulate snakes, lions, penguins and more!
  • Photo Safari Show (August 18th) – Check out the many wonderful photographic entries at our Photo Safari Show held under the tent on the green.
  • Family Night Mondays (August 27th) – Come for family friendly, family focused fun! Zoo open late. Last admission 7pm, grounds close 8pm.

 September

  • Family Night Mondays (September 3rd) – Come for family friendly, family focused fun! Zoo open late. Last admission 7pm, grounds close 8pm.
  • Babes in the Zoo (September 3rd-7th) – Free admission for an adult accompanied by a baby in a stroller.
  • Fall Appreciation Free Day (September 22nd) – Free admission for all of our zoo visitors.
  • Zoo Closes Sunday, September 30th.

 October

  • Boo at the Zoo (October 29th, 30th, & 31st) – 1,000 pumpkins, 500,000 lights, light sculptures, tricks, treats, spiders and snakes, games and prizes make for a safe and enjoyable Halloween at the Zoo. This "merry not scary" event includes a number of trick-or-treat stations for all ages and a costume contest.
