April

  • Zoo Opens Saturday, April 11.
  • Earth Day (April 25, 10:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m.) – Fun conservation activities in the zoo and neighboring hockey shelter. For more information: Click Here.

 May

  • International Migratory Bird Day (May 11, Noon – 3:00 p.m.) –Learn more about why birds migrate and why it is so important. Join us for crafts and activities focused on birds. For more information about IMBD: Click Here
  • Mother’s Day (May 10) – Mothers admitted free with a paying child admission.
  • Armed Forces Day (May 16) – Free admission for members of active duty military (with ID) and their immediate family: spouse, child, parent, brother or sister.
  • Bear Aware Day (May 23, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.) – Free admission for children 12 and under when they bring their teddy bear to the zoo. Enjoy a fun filled day of bear activities, crafts and games!
  • Date Night (May 29, 5:00-7:00 p.m.) -- Bring your special someone for a fun evening. For each full-price adult admission after 5:00 p.m., you get a second adult admission at half-price. Enjoy a special Animal Encounters show and take advantage of meal deals available at Kookaburra Kafe. Last admission at 7:00 p.m., grounds close at 8:00 p.m. 

 June

  • World Oceans Day (June 8, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.) – We may not live next to the ocean, but our everyday lives affect it. Learn more about oceans and the zoo's cute ocean dwellers, African black-footed penguins.
  • Father’s Day (June 21) – Fathers admitted free with a paying child admission. Sponsored by Dixie's Diner.
  • Date Night Fridays (June 20, 5:00-7:00 p.m.) – Bring your special someone for a fun evening. For each full-price adult admission after 5:00 p.m., you get a second adult admission at half-price. Enjoy a special Animal Encounters show and take advantage of meal deals available at Kookaburra Kafe. Last admission at 7:00 p.m., grounds close at 8:00 p.m. 

 July

  • Frontier Day (July 11, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.) – Visit the zoo and explore our western heritage through the agricultural arts. Enjoy local spinners and weavers demonstrating their skills using wool sheared from sheep. Create your own candles, leatherworking items and more!
  • Date Night Fridays (July 24, 5:00-7:00 p.m.) – Bring your special someone for a fun evening. For each full-price adult admission after 5:00 p.m., you get a second adult admission at half-price. Enjoy a special Animal Encounters show and take advantage of meal deals available at Kookaburra Kafe. Last admission at 7:00 p.m., grounds close at 8:00 p.m. 

 August

  • Enrichment Day (Aug. 2) – See how our zoo keepers enrich the lives of our animals with a variety of activities designed to mentally and physically stimulate natural behaviors.
  • Seniors Day (August 3) – Free admission for seniors 62 and over. Have a box lunch, sit under a shady tree and enjoy up close animal encounters and old time music. Sponsored by Lincoln Court.
  • TPZS Annual Picnic (Aug. 24, 6:00-7:30 p.m. by invitation only) As our way of saying thank you to our wonderful zoo members, the Tautphaus Park Zoological Society Board of Directors will treat all members to an evening of food and fun. Members will recieve an invitation by mail.
  • Date Night Fridays (Aug. 28, 5:00-7:00 p.m.) – Bring your special someone for a fun evening. For each full-price adult admission after 5:00 p.m., you get a second adult admission at half-price. Enjoy a special Animal Encounters show and take advantage of meal deals available at Kookaburra Kafe. Last admission at 7:00 p.m., grounds close at 8:00 p.m. 
  • Community Appreciation Day-(Aug. 29) - In conjunction with Community Fest, the Idaho Falls Zoo offers free admittance to everyone who brings in a nonperishable food item to donate to the Idaho Falls Food Bank. Anyone without a food item can donate $1.00 or more to go toward our new Education Complex. 

 September

  • Zoo Brews (September 11, 5:00-8:30 p.m.) – A fundraiser hosted by the Tautphaus Park Zoological Society and sponsored by the North American Brewers Association. Enjoy an evening at the zoo sampling amazing beers and wines, listening to fine music, and watching the animals. Must be 21 or over to attend the event. TPZ Society memberships do not apply. Look for more information coming soon on ticket costs, purchasing, etc. 

 October

  • Sunday, October 4: Last day of regular zoo operation for 2015
  • Boo at the Zoo (October 28, 29, & 30) – 1,000 pumpkins, 500,000 lights, light sculptures, tricks, treats, spiders and snakes, games and prizes make for a safe and enjoyable Halloween at the zoo. This "merry not scary" event includes a number of trick-or-treat stations for all ages and a costume contest. TPZ Society memberships do not apply. For more details click hereWould you like to be a vendor during the event? Click Here for more details to participate in the fun!  Boo at the Zoo guests are encouraged to enter the park from Rollandet.  Parking is available in the old elk field and County Fairgrounds lots.
  • Night Lights (October 31, 6:00-7:30 p.m.) – See the beautiful Halloween decorations at the zoo but skip the crowds on Halloween night. Please note there will be NO trick-or-treat stations, costume contest, crafts or games. Admission is half price regular zoo admission.

 December

  • Christmas with the Critters (December 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 from 10:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.) – What do the animals do at the zoo during the winter? Guests can visit the animals that like the cold and snow, watch them receive special Christmas treats, and more. Visit Santa from noon-1:00 p.m. The zoo will open at 10:00 a.m. and last admission is at 3:00 p.m. Admission is half price. The zoo reserves the right to not open for the day if the weather is too dangerous.
