April
- Zoo Opens April 17th.
- Earth Day (April 24th) – Fun conservation activities in the zoo and neighboring hockey shelter from 10AM – 4PM. For more information: Click Here
May
- Photo Safari Starts – Amateur wildlife photographers of all ages are invited to zoom in on the zoo and see what develops. Only photos taken at Tautphaus Park Zoo during the 2010 season are eligible. Entrants may enter as many photos as they wish. Photos must be submitted by July 26th. Winning photos will be on display at the zoo on August 7th and the remainder of August at the Post Register Gallery.
- International Migratory Bird Day (May 8th, 12PM – 3PM) – Birds migrate great distances every year. Learn more about why birds migrate and why it is so important. For more information: Click Here
- Mother’s Day (May 9th) – Mothers admitted free with a paying child admission.
June
- World Oceans Day (June 5th, 10AM – 4PM) – We may not live next to the ocean, but our everyday lives affect it. Come to the zoo and learn more about our oceans and the zoo's cute ocean dwellers, the African black-footed penguins as well as fun crafts and games!
- Sheep to Shawl (June 12th, 12PM – 3PM) – Local shearers, spinners and weavers demonstrate their skills using wool sheared from the zoo’s flock of sheep.
- Teddy Bear Day (June 19th) – Free admission for children 12 and under when they bring their teddy bear to the zoo. Enjoy a fun filled day of bear activities, crafts and games!
- Father’s Day (June 20th) – Fathers admitted free with a paying child admission.
July
- Dr. Doolittle Day (July 17th, 10AM - 4PM) - Each year the Zoo Docents host this day of fun and education with games, crafts, prizes and animal encounters.
August
- Seniors Day (August 2nd) – Free admission for seniors 62 and over. Have a box lunch, sit under a shady tree and enjoy up close encounters and old time music. Sponsored by Lincoln Court.
- Enrichment Day & Photo Safari Show (August 7th) – See how our zoo keepers enrich the lives of our animals with a variety of activities designed to mentally and physically stimulate snakes, lions, penguins and more! Check out the many entries at our Photo Safari Show held under the tent on the green.
- 75th Anniversary of Tautphaus Park Celebration (August 21st) – Come celebrate the 75th anniversary of Tautphaus Park and the Zoo. The zoo will be offering .75 cent admission all day. Games and activites will be held at the Tent on the Green. Sponsored by Cable One.
September
- Babes in the Zoo (September 6th-10th) – Free admission for an adult accompanied by a baby in a stroller.
- Fall Appreciation Free Day (September 25th) – Free admission for all of our zoo supporters.
October
- Zoo Closes October 3rd.
- Boo at the Zoo (October 28th, 29th, & 30th) – 1,000 pumpkins, lights, sculptures, tricks, treats, spiders and snakes, games and prizes make for a safe and enjoyable Halloween at the Zoo.
