The interactive maps have several tools for your use. These tools are accessed from the tool bar. The tool bar consists of a group of small individual icons. When an icon is clicked it activates the tool of your choice or performs a specific function. Most of the icons in the interactive maps are shown below, with an explanation of the function they perform.
Some tools perform a specific function that does not require user input, such as "Zoom to Full Extent." These tools perform the specific function when clicked, but do not become active.
In contrast, tools that require user input are only available when they are active. The "Zoom In" tool is an example of a tool that requires user input. The currently active tool will have a red square around it to show that it is active.
Some interactive maps use tools other maps do not, depending upon the particular map. You may not be able to perform all functions on&nb sp;all maps.
If you forget the function of a tool, simply place your mouse cursor over the tool and in time a "tool tip" appears, telling you the name of the tool.

Toggle between Legend and Layer List
|
This tool toggles between the legend and layer list, or in some instances, opens a separate window with the layer list in it. The legend indicates what the different symbols mean. The layer list allows you to turn layers on and off. It also allows you to specify which layer is the active layer. This is necessary for the "Identify," "Query," and "Find" tools to work properly, since they work on the active map layer only. For example, to find a park with the "Find" tool, the "Parks and Facilities" layer must be the active layer in the layer list.
