Description
This is an odd question but I had someone tell me the city was considering allowing residents to raise chickens within the City limits. Is this true? If so, why?
Notes
The City Council is considering revising the current ordinance to allow for a limited number of hen (female) chickens to be raised within the city limits. They are considering this because a group of citizens requested that they consider this action. The group was very well organized and brought up several health and economic benefits of raising "urban" chickens. The city council meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm at the city council chambers in the city annex building. The agenda is published prior to the meeting on the city website. This issue is tentatively scheduled to be considered at the September 9th meeting. You are welcome to voice your concerns and opinions on this subject when it is being considered by the council. You may also contact one of the city council members (contact information is available on the city website)to voice your opinions.
