Description
If I am doing a DIY project in my home, do I need to follow the international building code? I know that for some projects I do not need a permit; so for these types of projects how does the city make sure homes are up to code?
Notes
Permit are required for electrical, plumbing, mechanical and building where new work is done. Simple replacement normally does not require a permit except for water heaters and water softners. Any item that requires a permit will be inspected to ensure that the work complies with the code. Painting, carpet and other cosmetic work does not require a permit.
