<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested 36-year-old Misti D. Bird Tuesday morning on a warrant for four counts of forgery and one count grand theft by embezzlement.</p>
<p>Bird of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.</p>
<p>According to reports, officers began investigating Bird at the end of March after her former employer, Reginald Reeves, discovered Bird had embezzled more than $16,000 from his law office. Bird was his secretary until she was fired in January 2013.</p>
<p>The thefts began in 2011.</p>

<p align="center"><strong>Police Investigate Copper Theft</strong></p>
<p align="center">
<p>The Idaho Falls Police Department is investigating the theft of copper wire and brass connectors from two Idaho Falls Power substations.</p>
<p>According to reports, Idaho Falls Power reported that sometime in the last few weeks an unknown suspect or suspects stole 144 feet of copper ground wire and about 80 brass connectors off a perimeter fence at the Milligan Substation and the Sugar Mill Substation.</p>
<p>There are no suspects at this time.</p>
<p>Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact the IFPD at 529-1200 or Crimestoppers at 522-1983.</p>

<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested 26-year-old Kristen M. McVey and 46-year-old Nancy M. Lindner for burglary after they were caught stealing merchandise from Walmart.</p>
<p>McVey and Lindner, both of Idaho Falls, were booked into the Bonneville County Jail.</p>
<p>According to reports, officers responded to Walmart, located at 500 S. Utah Ave., around 4 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a theft. Store employees had detained McVey and Lindner after they left the store with several unpaid items, including a power drill, alcoholic beverages and a child’s mattress.</p>
<p>Both had also been in the store earlier in the day and stole several items, including two purses.</p>

<p align="center">
<p>Idaho’s Fallen Peace Officers will be honored Monday (May 13) night during the annual Law Enforcement Candlelight Vigil in Idaho Falls.</p>
<p>The event will be held at the Bonneville County Courthouse starting at 6 p.m.</p>
<p>The National Peace Officer’s Memorial Day started in 1962 after U.S. President John F. Kennedy signed a Presidential Proclamation designating May 15<sup>th</sup> as a day to pay tribute to peace officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty.</p>
<p>Concerns Of Police Survivors, a national organization that assists survivors of fallen officers, said that nationwide over 16,000 officers have been killed in the line of duty. Since 1883, the state of Idaho has lost 68 officers, including two Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies and one Bonneville County K9.</p>
<p>Kennedy also designated the week following May 15th as National Police Week.</p>
<p>This memorial service is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.</p>

<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested 24-year-old Daniel Jesse Larsen for aggravated battery after he shot another man in the leg early Sunday morning.</p>
<p>Larsen of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.</p>
<p>According to reports, officers responded to the 1200 block of Boise Avenue around 2:50 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and found that 35-year-old Mickey D. McMurtrey had been shot in the left thigh.</p>
<p>According to McMurtrey and witnesses, there were a few people at Larsen’s residence for a small house party where they’d been drinking alcohol.</p>
<p>McMurtrey told police he witnessed a man become physically aggressive toward his wife and push her into a fence at the house. When McMurtrey tried to intervene, Larsen, holding a gun, tried to stop him.</p>
<p>McMurtrey and Larsen struggled over the gun and it went off.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="center"><strong>Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of Stolen Car and Investigation into Multiple Car Burglaries</strong></p>
<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested two 16-year-old boys early Friday morning for possession of stolen property after they attempted to flee from police in a stolen car.</p>
<p>The boys, both of Idaho Falls, were booked into the 3B Detention Center.</p>
<p>According to reports, an officer was patrolling in the area of 17<sup>th</sup> Street and South Boulevard when he attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2006 Toyota Camry. The vehicle failed to stop and the two occupants jumped from the moving car and fled in the 100 block of East 18<sup>th</sup> Street.</p>
<p>The car continued to move and went up onto the curb hitting a small tree and a Jeep Cherokee parked in a driveway.</p>
<p>Additional officers responded to the area to locate the individuals. One, identified as a 16-year-old boy, was found hiding in the backyard of a residence near 17<sup>th</sup> and Lee. The second, also identified as a 16-year-old boy, was located at a home in the 1100 block of South Lee.</p>
<p>The vehicle the boys abandoned and crashed was identified as a stolen vehicle reported to police on April 28. It was returned to its owner.</p>
<p>In addition, the boys are also being investigated in connection to vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Idaho Falls area.</p>

<p align="center"><strong>Three Arrested at Traffic Stop</strong></p>
<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested three Idaho Falls residents Thursday morning during a traffic stop at First and Holmes Avenue.</p>
<p>Benjamin T. Hines, Jr., 42, was arrested on an Idaho Falls fail to appear warrant. Carl J. Piirto, 53, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and a Bonneville County probation violation warrant. Scarlett E. Briggs, 36, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.</p>
<p>According to reports, officers stopped a vehicle driven by Briggs at a gas station at First Street and Holmes Avenue around 9:30 a.m. The passengers, Piirto and Hines were identified as having active warrants.</p>
<p>As the two were being placed under arrest, Piirto was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and 2.83 grams of methamphetamine. Briggs was also found in possession of paraphernalia and .58 grams of methamphetamine.</p>
<p>All three were booked into the Bonneville County Jail.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p align="center"><strong>Police Deploy Taser</strong></p>
<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested 20-year-old Dustin Ross for simple assault, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and frequenting a place where drugs are used following an incident in the 900 block of Ada.</p>
<p>According to reports, officers responded to the 900 block of Ada around 2:36 a.m. Saturday in reference to two men under the influence of drugs trying to get into an apartment.</p>
<p>Officers located Ross. He failed to comply with the police commands to stop as he tried to run into an apartment. As officers grabbed Ross and were placing him under arrest when he tried to pull himself away from police.</p>
<p>Officers struggled with Ross and therefore drive stunned him. Because drive stunning was ineffective an officer deployed his taser.</p>
<p>Officers were able to gain control and handcuff Ross.</p>
<p>Marcus Anderson and Zack Newton were also arrested in connection to the incident. Anderson was arrested for frequenting a place where drugs are used. Newton was arrested for public intoxication and disturbing the peace as he was found at the intersection of Ada and Elva acting erratically.</p>
<p>All three men, under the influence of drugs, were taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for a medical clearance before being booked into the Bonneville County Jail.</p>

<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested 23-year-old Bradley Helgeson for burglary after he entered an apartment in the 1200 block of Idaho Avenue with the intent to steal.</p>
<p>According to reports, an officer responded to the 1200 block of Idaho Avenue around 7 p.m. for a report of a burglary. The victim stated that she came home to find a DVD player and a microwave missing from her apartment.</p>
<p>Two other residents in the apartment complex told police that they saw two males, one being Helgeson, inside the complex. They saw the men around the victim’s apartment and then leave the building with a small box of items.</p>
<p>The DVD player was located at Helgeson’s residence.</p>
<p>Helgeson of Idaho Falls was already at the Bonneville County Jail after he was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop earlier in the evening.</p>

<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested 32-year-old Jeremy Brian Marsden for possession of stolen property.</p>
<p>Marsden of Ucon was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.</p>
<p>According to reports, officers received a theft report on Sunday morning in the 500 block of Meppen. The reporting party told police that a set of $1700 golf clubs were stolen from his car sometime the night before.</p>
<p>On Monday afternoon, the police department received a call from Granny’s Pawn on Lomax that Marsden was attempting to pawn the golf clubs at this business.</p>

<p>Idaho Falls Police arrested 31-year-old Seth Weisser for aggravated assault for threatening another man with a gun early Saturday morning.</p>
<p>Weisser of Ammon was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.</p>
<p>According to reports, officers responded to a parking lot in the 1400 block of Northgate Mile around 3:20 a.m. The 37-year-old victim stated that he and another friend were struggling to get an intoxicated female friend into the car when Weisser approached them and threatened him with a gun.</p>
<p>Weisser thought the woman was being battered and intervened.</p>
