The Idaho Falls Fire Department is proud to sponsor and support Explorer Post 1565. The post meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and is open to members from 14-21 years old. Many of the Explorers are currently also enrolled in high school based EMT-B programs in the area. The Explorers learn about the American Fire Service, emergency medical services, fire department operations, and public service. They serve the Department by assisting with the annual Idaho Falls Fire Department Retirement Party, the annual awards ceremony, and the annual Fill the Boot fundraising drive.
The Post has a Facebook page and can be contacted through this page or through the Chief’s Office. The Boy Scouts of America and Learning for Life facilitate the program. Young men and women are welcome to participate. The program is a great way for youth to learn about the American Fire Service and to move into careers in either firefighting or emergency medical services.
