2018 17th Street Roadway Projects
The City of Idaho Falls has two federal-aid roadway projects scheduled for construction in the summer of 2018. Each of these projects is described below. We welcome comments from anyone who may be interested. In order that the comments be considered prior to finalizing our plans with the State, please submit them no later than October 20, 2017 via one of the three methods below:

17th Street Mill and Overlay
In prior years, the 17th Street roadway surface has been milled and had new asphalt overlay constructed west of Holmes Avenue and east of Woodruff Avenue. In 2018, the section between Holmes and Woodruff will be milled and overlaid, along with some minor improvements to corner pedestrian ramps and storm drain inlets.
17th Street Median Curbs
The City commissioned a road safety audit of 17th Street to identify wide-ranging improvements that could be made to improve safety in that important corridor. That study was finalized in 2016, and a copy of the complete report can be viewed at 17th Street Road Safety Audit.
The recommendations for improved road safety that came out of the audit included the installation of median curbs to restrict left turns in and out of driveways in close proximity to major intersections in the corridor. Based on those recommendations the City plans to install median curbs at/near the following intersections:
