Data-driven policing is an important function of police departments. Data and statistics are used to help identify trends to be addressed through community collaboration, education and enforcement activities.
Each day, the Idaho Falls Police Department is gathered data and statistics to help us better serve our community and decrease criminal activity and safety issues within our community. Data and statistics collected includes everything from traffic citations and accidents to felony and misdemeanor crimes.
During the course of the year, we submit our data and statistics to the Idaho State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and the FBI. We then receive reports of comparative statistics to benchmark cities of similar size.
