Joe Marmo / Wayne Lehto Ice Arena

The Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena is south eastern Idaho's premier ice facility that offers high quality hockey and ice-skating programs as well as non-skating recreation and entertainment events. This beautiful facility hosts state hockey tournaments and figure skating competitions every year.

The first floor consists of an 85 foot by 190 foot ice surface, large lobby area, rental shop, snack bar, and the best locker room facilities in the state. The Recreation Department strives to keep costs down for our user groups and public skaters to make ice skating an affordable recreational activity for the community.

The following protocols will be implemented to support facility operations.

  • Social distancing is required (6ft between individuals who do not reside within the same household)
  • When social distancing can’t be maintained, a face covering must be worn in public spaces and facilities
    1. Facial coverings are not required to be worn under the following circumstance:
      • Persons actively engaged in competition, training, or practice that involves strenuous physical activity when wearing a face covering is not feasible. Physical distancing from other persons should be maintained as much as possible.
  • The facility will have clearly marked one-way entrance and exit pathways, during high use times, i.e. public skate, practices, lessons, tournaments, competitions, etc.
  • Facility users must exit the facility in a timely fashion once their use is over. In the event that socializing and gathering is becoming a burden after a facility use ends, facility staff will ask individuals to leave the facility to prevent socializing and gathering in the facility (locker rooms, lobby, observation areas, etc)
  • An additional entrance to the ice sheet will be installed to allow a separate entrance and exit.
  • Drinking fountain will be shut off.
  • Plexi glass barrier will be present at the front desk.
  • Social distancing marks will be placed throughout the building to aide patrons
  • Minimal use of locker rooms will be provided to users who have the facility rented, i.e. youth hockey, tournaments, competitions
    1. The city encourages individuals to come dressed ready to participate.
    2. During facility rentals, the rented party will be responsible for cleaning the locker rooms, coaches’ rooms, etc. periodically throughout their use to help keep surfaces and areas clean and sanitary.  The City will provide the cleaning supplies.
  • Ice rink staff will increase the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing throughout the operating hours of the facility.
  • Additional time in-between programs, users and rentals has been built into the daily schedule to allow for addition cleaning and disperse crowds.
