Winter Outdoor Recreation

In the winter months, weather in Idaho Falls is typically snow-covered and frozen for at least a couple of months. With this, we find as many ways as possible to have fun!!

Trail Grooming in the Park System

Parks and Recreation works hard during the winter to keep Freeman Park and Tautphaus Park groomed for cross country skiing. Both Freeman and Tautphaus can be used anytime during the week or weekend and are completely free. The trails will be groomed the entire winter depending on snow conditions.

Two people cross country skiing in the snow.

Ski at Tautphaus Park

Children's cross-country ski equipment is available for rent at the Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena in Tautphaus Park. This is a great activity for your next family outing, scouting event or church function. Rentals are intended to be used in Tautphaus Park only. The rental fee is $5 per package.
