Public Announcement:
The City of Idaho Falls is applying for funding through the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation’s Recreational Trails Program. These funds will be used to develop trails and pathways throughout Heritage Park.
Park Information
The parks department is responsible for a myriad of city services. The department's operational activities are separated into Parks Maintenance, Horticulture and Urban Forestry, Weed and Environmental Control, Irrigation Management and Cemeteries.
The Department provides special event assistance, snow removal, the City-wide banner program, ice arena maintenance, the holiday lighting program, as well as maintenance of all memorials, flowerbeds and city turf grass. The staff also works together to provide high quality, safe and well maintained:
- Athletic facilities
- Cemeteries
- Parks
- Pavilions and shelters
- Public restrooms
- Trails

Park Shelters
Want to rent a park shelter for an event or reunion? There are 24 picnic shelters/decks for rent within the City of Idaho Falls. Some shelters are a first come first serve. As of 2022, the City of Idaho Falls is no longer taking reservations in the Japanese Friendship Garden. See here for more information.
