Idaho Falls, ID – Idaho Falls Power (IFP) has selected eight local high school students to attend the annual Idaho Consumer-Owned Utilities Association’s (ICUA) Youth Rally in July. Each student will receive a $500 college scholarship from IFP and an opportunity to earn more scholarship money at the annual leadership camp held in Caldwell.
“Each one of the these students exemplified great leadership qualities, abilities and talents,” Customer Relations Supervisor Joelyn Hansen said. “These kids are already doing some amazing things and will represent our utility well at the rally, as well as the community.”
Students selected include:
Olivia Baldwin – Compass Academy
Addalynn Beasley – Compass Academy
Sarah Bidstrup – Compass Academy
Janie Billman – Compass Academy
Serena Harris – Skyline High School
Aiden Henrie – Idaho Falls High School
Grady Prairie – Compass Academy
Damion Schwendiman – Compass Academy
The students will join other youth – representing utilities in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Alaska – at the College of Idaho Campus for one week to participate in a variety of activities and classes to promote positive relationships, teamwork and build leadership skills. Youth will also learn about government, drug and alcohol awareness, and the electrical/energy industry.
IFP, along with 15 other public electric utilities, is a proud sponsor and participant at the youth rally. Approximately 2,400 students from across the Pacific Northwest have attended the rally since 1987.
