The Idaho Falls Police Department congratulates Lawrence “Bo” Bogard for 10 years of service as a dispatcher. Bogard officially retired on March 19.
“Bo will really be missed at the dispatcher center,” Idaho Falls Police Chief Mark McBride said. “He was an excellent dispatcher and a great supervisor. We were lucky to have him for the time he was with us.”
Bogard, who hired on at the IFPD in August 2007, came to the department after retiring from 24 years of service in the United States Navy. During his Naval service he worked as a torpedo man and was stationed in South Carolina, Texas, Nevada and California. He also was stationed twice at Pearl Harbor.
Bogard was well liked by his peers and supervisors because he was a team player and performed his duties at the best of his abilities. He was promoted to the position of Disptach Supervisor in August 2014.
“I’m going to miss everyone that I worked with [in the department],” Bogard said. “We had a really good team at dispatch that worked well together. That teamwork really helped make a difference in how emergency responders fulfilled their duties within the community.”
Bogard said he’s going to enjoy retirement. Though, he will often think about the people he worked with and the community he served.
“Everybody be safe,” he said.
