Hey teens! Are you looking for a great way to get an amazing educational experience while giving back to your community and getting valuable community service hours – hours that look GREAT to potential employers and on college applications?
Junior Zoo Crew is a summer educational program at the Idaho Falls Zoo designed specifically for ages 14-17. Participants will learn about public speaking, animal care, conservation, zoo careers and education within a zoo setting. They will assist animal keepers in the Children’s Zoo, staff information stations located throughout the zoo, answer questions from zoo guests, and assist with special events.
Would you like to learn more about the Junior Zoo Crew program? Great news! Attend one of two informational presentations for prospective volunteers on Tuesday, February 11 OR Wednesday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the William J. Maeck Education Center located at the entrance of the Idaho Falls Zoo.
Applications for the Junior Zoo Crew will be available starting Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Idaho Falls Zoo’s website under the "Get Involved" tab. There are two six-week sessions available. Applicants will select one session.
Deadline to apply to the Junior Zoo Crew is 3:00 p.m. on April 1, 2020.
For those accepted into the program, there is an education program fee of $50 for Tautphaus Park Zoological Society members and $75 for non-members that covers training, materials, a uniform shirt, name tag, recognition items and an appreciation party at the end of the season. Scholarships may be available.
