(Idaho Falls, ID) – The Idaho Falls City Council will vote on ratifying Lisa Burtenshaw as the replacement for former Councilwoman Shelly Smede at the Monday, April 5, 2021, City Council Work Session.
Burtenshaw was named by Mayor Rebecca Casper as the successor to Smede, who announced her resignation earlier this month. It was anticipated that Burtenshaw would be ratified at the City Council meeting on April 8, 2021.
However, in order to take part in the Monday meeting, Burtenshaw will need to be ratified on Monday prior to participating with the City Council at the work session. If ratified, Burtenshaw will then be sworn in and be allowed to participate with the City Council at that meeting.
If approved, Burtenshaw will fill City Council seat two for the remainder of Smede’s term, with the position being up for election this fall.
