[ARCHIVED] Full STEAM ahead at Idaho Falls Zoo with Picnics, Brews & Boos and Toyota Days!

Flamingo Cosette Oct 2020 (1)

Summer may be winding down, but your Idaho Falls Zoo is still STEAMing forward, hoppin’ and roarin’ with lots of upcoming events!

August 21: Funland at the Zoo’s Picnic in the Park

Have you wondered what’s going on with Funland at the Zoo in Tautphaus Park? Here’s your chance to find out! On Saturday, August 21 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. come to our FREE Picnic at the Park at Funland! Learn how we are working to preserve this iconic gem which has been a part of our community since 1947. You’ll enjoy family fun activities, free music and entertainment, and even a pie eating contest. In addition, the first 1,000 people get free popcorn and cotton candy. Some of the city’s most popular food trucks will be onsite for you to purchase your own lunch. If you’re lucky, you may see your zoo’s mascot, Percy the Penguin.  Donations and sales proceeds will be used to help fund the renovation of Funland at the Zoo. Learn more at www.funlandatthezoo.com.

August 23: Zoo Member-Only Annual Picnic

Thanks for supporting your zoo by buying an annual membership! Tautphaus Park Zoological Society’s annual Zoo Member-Only hot dog cookout will be on Monday, Aug. 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Enjoy the zoo after-hours with free hotdogs, chips, and drinks. Open only to those with a valid zoo membership. RSVP to [email protected]. Want to become a member at the zoo and get a pass good for a full year? It’s never too late! Visit https://www.idahofallsidaho.gov/1396/Membership. Call 208-612-8421 with questions.

August 27: Fluor Idaho’s STEAM Day at the Zoo
Thanks to the generous support of Fluor Idaho, you'll explore science, engineering, art, and innovation in an amazing hands-on experience of interactive STEM-themed stations throughout the zoo from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Activities in the zoo are included with your paid zoo admission or TPZS membership.

This spring, 4th and 5th graders from Rexburg, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello should have received a cool STEAM-based interactive zoo map at school courtesy of Toyota. If the student brings that map to STEAM Day, the child will get into the zoo for 1/2 price!

August 31: Toyota Driver Tuesday

Calling all Toyota drivers: do we have a deal for you! Thanks to your local dealerships Teton Toyota, Stone's Toyota, and Phil Meador Toyota, on select Tuesdays we're offering you 50-cent admissions to the driver when you present your Toyota key at admissions during regular zoo hours from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. This offer is good ONLY for the driver (valid for one admission per person holding a Toyota key per event day). Come on over to the zoo and bring your Toyota! On August 31, no lion, Teton Toyota will be on zoo grounds ready to roar!

We’re sad to announce the Hawaiian Luau scheduled for Aug. 13 has been canceled, but there’s another incredible zoo fundraiser in September you won’t want to miss!

September 17: Zoo Brew in Back!
It’s back and better than ever! Adults 21+ can enjoy an evening at the zoo when the animals are active, and the beer is cold thanks to the North American Brewers Association and Tautphaus Park Zoological Society. On Friday, Sept. 17 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. our ticket sample beer around the zoo from local and national breweries. Tickets are $30 in advance online and $35 at the door. Designated drivers are only $25. Tickets will likely sell out so don’t delay! Get yours at https://tinyurl.com/3rx3mw79. Attendees MUST be 21 years old and older and show identification for entrance.
