Beginning in May, Nexant, a utility consulting company working in conjunction with the Northwest Energy Alliance (NEEA), may be contacting Idaho Falls Power customers to participate in an online or telephone survey.
The purpose of the survey is to better understand residential household characteristics and design energy efficiency rebate programs to help customers save money by reducing their energy use.
NEEA is conducting the survey throughout Washington, Idaho and Montana to assist with improved program planning and regional policy issues. The surveys will ask residents basic household information such as the year the home was built, type of home, energy types used in the home (natural gas, propane, electricity), and basic demographic information.
Nexant will send approximately 20,000 mailings to utility customers in the Northwest region over the course of 12 months. Each mailing will include an introduction letter outlining the two steps of the research study, a $2 incentive, and information about how they can participate.
During both the online and telephone survey, respondents will be informed about the opportunity to participate in a site visit. During site visits, NEEA will gather information about appliances, home heating type, windows and insulation levels.
All data will be kept confidential, and customer information will not be contained in the final report that is produced through this study.
