[ARCHIVED] Idaho Falls Fiber invites the community to the first open house of 2023

IFF Open House for press release

IDAHO FALLS – Idaho Falls Fiber is hosting its first open house of 2023 to give an inside look at the network and some of the fastest internet in Idaho Falls.

The open house on Jan. 9, 2023, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. will be held at the Skyline Activity Center 1575 North Skyline Drive, Idaho Falls, Idaho. The open house is the perfect place for those curious about the network, fiber optic internet or how to sign up for service.

“Since the launch of Idaho Falls Fiber as an open access network, around 5,000 customers have signed up for the service,” said Idaho Falls Power and Fiber General Manager Bear Prairie. “We are opening new neighborhoods to the network. Attending one of these open houses is the perfect chance to get a first-hand experience of what fiber can do for you.”

Idaho Falls Fiber staff will be on hand to share how Idaho Falls Fiber is the best option in town and answer questions. Staff can give details on cost and speeds, how to sign up, providers on the network and the installation process. Residents in available fiber areas will also be able to sign up for service at the open house.

The Idaho Falls Fiber Network is owned and operated by the City of Idaho Falls through Idaho Falls Power. Since 2002, Idaho Falls Fiber has provided the infrastructure that allows local businesses to access the fastest internet possible. In 2019, Idaho Falls Fiber started expanding its network so all residents can eventually access state-of-the-art internet in their homes.

Using existing utility infrastructure, Idaho Falls Fiber is building the fiber optic framework to deliver the bandwidth businesses and residents need to keep up in the information age. Idaho Falls Fiber plans to finish its build-out to all of Idaho Falls by the end of 2024. Over 700 miles of fiber optic cable has been placed in Idaho Falls.
