The Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMPO), School District 91 and School District 93 Elementary schools, as well as schools from around the world will celebrate International Walk to School Day the morning of October 4, 2017.
Approximately 100 to 300 students from each of the Districts’ elementary schools, as well as parents and other community members will be participating.
Walk to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for pedestrians and bicyclists. The events also bring awareness to such issues as the importance of increased physical activity among children; traffic congestion; concerns for the environment; and building connections between families, schools and the community.
The event is organized by the Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization, School Districts 93 and 91, and the Safe Routes to School program.
