At approximately 2:20 p.m. on Nov. 12, 2017, the Idaho Falls Fire Department (IFFD) and Idaho Falls Police Department (IFPD) were dispatched to Russ Freeman Park at 1290 Science Center Drive for a report of a vehicle that was fully submerged in the Snake River.
Crews from the IFFD, IFPD and Bonneville County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) staged at various locations within the park, on Hwy 20 and at the forebay for downstream lookout and safety. IFFD rescue swimmers entered the water, with crews located on the shores downstream. The swimmers made access to the vehicle but could not ascertain whether or not there were any occupants in the vehicle.
A jet ski from the BCSO arrived on scene, and a BCSO diver entered the water to assist in the search. A BCSO boat hooked a tow rope to the vehicle. All IFFD and BCSO swimmers exited the water at 3:15 p.m. The vehicle was then towed out of the water by a tow truck.

No one was found in the water or in the vehicle.
The vehicle was spotted and called in by an individual who was fishing from his boat. It is not know at this time when the vehicle entered the water.
The incident is under investigation.
