[ARCHIVED] Idaho Falls Fire Department Hosts Annual Awards Ceremony, Recognizes EMS and Firefighter of the Year

Extreme Blue Thunder Air Show, Idaho Falls Fire DepartmentIdaho Falls, ID:  The Idaho Falls Fire Department has had a very successful year! Join us Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the IFFD Annual Awards Ceremony at the Colonial Theater, located at 450 “A” Street in Idaho Falls.  The department will reflect on 2017 and recognize employees, including the 2017 EMS Provider of the Year and Firefighter of the Year.

The event is free to the public.

“The year 2017 was a year of growth and development for our department,” explains Fire Chief Dave Hanneman. “Our team’s ability to successfully manage three major community events, a significant increase in call volume, as well as many wildfire deployments to assist neighboring states, is nothing but impressive. Once again, the team stepped up to provide outstanding service to our community. And, they did so while working on training certificates to become the most highly trained department in the state,” adds Hanneman.

The all-hazard emergency response teams at the IFFD responded to more than 11,000 calls in 2017 while serving a population of approximately 108,000 residents, occupying 350 square miles.

The Emergency Medical Services Division serves a population of approximately 118,000 residents, occupying approximately 2,500 square miles, including Bonneville County and portions of Bingham and Jefferson Counties.  All emergency response personnel are trained as emergency medical technicians. There are currently 54 personnel trained as paramedics.

Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper, Fire Chief Dave Hanneman, and the Idaho Falls Firefighter Pipes and Drums and Honor Guard will open the ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

The department will recognize EMS Provider of the Year, Bill Radecky and Firefighter of the Year, Tory Stewart. New paramedics, promotions and new recruits will also be recognized.

“Thanks to an excellent leadership team and highly trained and dedicated employees, we continue to make our department better every day. We truly have made our mission moto – Providing Professional Life-Saving Services – a reality,” states Hanneman.
