[ARCHIVED] Public Meeting - Revitalizing South Downtown Idaho Falls

S. Downtown Revitalization AreaIdaho Falls, ID – The City of Idaho Falls, in partnership with Idaho Smart Growth and the Greater Idaho Falls Association of Realtors, is seeking public input on a visioning effort for the revitalization of south downtown Idaho Falls.

Members of the community are invited to an open house on Tuesday, February 27, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Idaho Falls Library457 West Broadway.

The goal of this project is help the City of Idaho Falls understand how best to revitalize and develop the area in the future. The project is funded by a grant through the National Association of Realtors and Idaho Smart Growth.

The study area is south of Broadway, east of the Snake River, west of Yellowstone Highway and north of Pancheri Drive.  Today, the area includes a variety of uses - Idaho Falls’ oldest historic neighborhood, a number of major civic institutions including the Idaho Falls Library, Art Museum and Idaho Falls Power. The area also includes a number of large- and small-scale, established businesses, including retail and restaurants. There are two parks and the River Walk along the Snake River at its western boundary. High traffic and commercial area border this area along Yellowstone Avenue and Pancheri Drive.

In addition to the open house, there will be opportunities throughout the week for the public to review information and images, as well as provide comment on the proposed ideas at various listening stations. The stations will be located at the Idaho Falls Library, The Art Museum at 300 S. Capital Avenue, and the Idaho State Building at 150 Shoup Avenue, from February 26 to March 2, during each locations' normal hours of operation.

The public can also express their opinions on the project area through an online survey.
