[ARCHIVED] Section of Rogers Street Closes to Allow for Zoo Expansion

Rogers Street Vacation

Idaho Falls, ID – In preparation for the expansion and development of the Idaho Falls Zoo this spring, the City of Idaho Falls has vacated a portion of Rogers Street as a public access road.

Rogers Street is the access road that runs along the south side of the Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park. The section of road from Rollandet Street east to Carnival Way has been vacated to allow for the construction of the William J. Maeck Education Center at the zoo.

Barricades are in place to prevent vehicles from accessing the vacated section of road until a more permanent solution occurs during construction.

Rogers Street from South Boulevard west to Carnival Way remains open for vehicles. Access to the Joe Marmo/Wayne Lehto Ice Arena off of Boulevard will not be impacted.

Soft Ball Drive will also remain open, providing access to the park from Rollandet Street.

The street vacation was approved by City Council on March 22. The City of Idaho Falls owns the property on both sides of the road.
