[ARCHIVED] Idaho Falls Power Awarded Renewed RP3 Designation, Prestigious Safety Award

Idaho Falls, ID – Idaho Falls Power has been awarded renewal of its prestigious Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation by the American Public Power Association.  In addition, the utility has also been recognized with the 2018 Northwest Public Power Association Safety Award (NWPPA).

“The renewal of our RPdesignation and the recognition by the Northwest Public Power Association are a direct testament to the commitment and dedication of our Idaho Falls Power employees, “said Idaho Falls Power General Manager Jackie Flowers.  “The men and women of Idaho Falls Power are absolute professionals who serve our community with an unwavering commitment to safety and reliability.”

According to the American Public Power Association, being recognized by the RP3 program demonstrates to community leaders, governing board members, suppliers and service providers a utility’s commitment to its employees, customers and community.

The RP3 program is based on industry recognized practices for public power utilities in reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.  Only 235 of the more than 2,000 public power utilities hold and RP3 designation.

The safety award is based on the number of recordable injury/illness cases and lost work days in 2017.  Idaho Falls Power came in second in the entire nation in the category of 125,001 to 200,000 hours of exposure.  Safety awards were based upon a review of each utility’s entry and the incident and severity rate of accidents over the past year.
