Idaho Falls - Tthe City of Idaho Falls is proud to partner with the Exchange Club and local community sponsors to support the annual Field of Honor May 26th to 28th at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls.
Field of Honor features a massive display of 1,000 American Flags arranged throughout Freeman Park as well as patriotic programs, music and activities throughout the Memorial Day weekend. The event is open to the public and all of the events and activities are free of charge.
The opening ceremony for the event will be held on Saturday, May 26th at Noon. Local dignitaries, media personalities, veteran groups and others will participate. On Sunday there will be a variety of events held at the park for families and there will be free mini flags and pinwheels available for children who attend.
On Monday, May 28th, there will be a special Memorial Day Ceremony featuring remarks from Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper as well as other dignitaries and invited guests. Monday morning at 10:15 at the Vietnam Memorial the event will also feature a special presentation from Nancy Shamel, who was instrumental in the creation of the Idaho Vietnam Memorial at Freeman Park. Shamel will speak about the history and symbolism of the memorial.
