Officer Mark Goodman, Officer Lynn Billman and Sergeant Pat McKenna said “goodbye” to their teammates and “hello” to retirement.
All three long-time veterans of the Idaho Falls Police Department gave their final "10-42," which is the police radio code which signifies the end of the tour of duty.
Their sign-offs were met with several responses of kind farewells and well wishes from their peers.
Listen to the audio of the officers saying their goodbyes over the police radio HERE.
Officer Mark Goodman is known by his peers at the IFPD as “8B-48,' and has given nearly 23 years of service to the people of the City of Idaho Falls.
Officer Lynn Billman is known as “8B 33.” He has served 27 years of service to the community.
And “8B 20,” Sergeant Pat McKenna wraps up his term of service to the city with 27 ½ years.
Now, these fine gentlemen are officially “out of service.”
A total of 4 long-time veterans of the police force will retire between the end of June and the end of July as they transition to life as retired law enforcement officers.
Lieutenant Dennis Tremayne, after 48 years of service, is retiring in late July.
These upstanding gentlemen have passed down a great deal of wisdom to the rest of the department over the years, which has been a benefit to the entire team. Their contributions have made a significant impact in ensuring the safety of the people of Idaho Falls.
All of these fine officers will be sorely missed.
The Idaho Falls Police Department currently has 6 vacant positions for patrol officers, and with these retirements, the department will have 10 vacancies.
The department is currently recruiting both Probationary Police Officers and Lateral Police Officers. More information about the hiring process can be found HERE.
