A Blackfoot man has been charged with Vehicular Manslaughter after Idaho Falls Police completed the investigation of a crash which killed an 18-year-old Idaho Falls man driving a motorcycle last month.
On June 19th just before 5:00 a.m., Idaho Falls Police responded to a report of a collision on the southbound on-ramp of Interstate 15 and Sunnyside Avenue / W. 33rd South.
Kevin Scott Spaulding was traveling westbound on Sunnyside Avenue in a silver Range Rover. Spaulding failed to yield to a motorcycle coming toward him. As the SUV turned South onto the I-15 on-ramp in front of the motorcycle, the 18-year-old motorcyclist impacted the front fender and wheel on the passenger side of the SUV.
Idaho Falls Police attempted to revive the victim with CPR, but efforts were unsuccessful. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and protective gear, but it is presumed that he died on impact.
After police completed a thorough investigation of the crash and prosecutors reviewed the circumstances of the case, a warrant for Spaulding’s arrest was issued for the charge of Vehicular Manslaughter.
On Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., Spaulding arrived willingly at the Bonneville County Jail to be booked on the charge. He posted bail and was released just after 4:00 p.m. the same day.
