Two events are coming up soon at the zoo!  One is an annual offering later this week and the other is a brand new event happening next week that’s bound to become a favorite!

Community Appreciation Day

We Appreciate YOU! Saturday, August 25 is Community Appreciation Day at Idaho Falls Zoo which means everyone four-and-over over gets in to the zoo for only $1.00 AND a can of food per person. Age three and younger, as usual, is free.

All food collected during Community Appreciation Day will be donated to the Idaho Falls Community Food Basket. 

“Community Appreciation Day is the zoo’s way of saying thanks to you, the members of our great community, for all the tremendous support you provide to the zoo,” says Zoo Director David Pennock. “It’s also a way the zoo helps our community by helping stock some of the shelves at the Community Food Basket.” 

Bat Night!

Calling all bat fans! Wednesday, August 29 at 8:30 p.m., see the zoo in a whole new light (or, in this case no light)! 

Zoo staff will host the first-ever Bat Night at the Zoo. Bat experts with BYU-Idaho and Veolia Nuclear Solutions will introduce you to the bats of Idaho, why they’re important, and how your zoo is helping expand the knowledge of local bats. 

We’ll start with a brief presentation for the adults and activities for the kids in the Jack Hamilton on the former county fairgrounds. Park in the fairgrounds lot and go up the cement steps to enter the Hamilton building. As it gets dark, we’ll go in to the zoo and explore the bats the visit each night to feed. 

Cost of the event is $5.50 per person ages 4 and over. 3 and under is free.

Zoo hours are daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m. now through Labor Day.
