[ARCHIVED] Boo at the Zoo is Back!

Boo at the Zoo 2018

Boo at the Zoo at the Idaho Falls Zoo is set for October 25, 26, and 27. Hosted by Tautphaus Park Zoological Society (TPZS), Boo at the Zoo is one of Idaho Falls’ largest fundraising events and showcases an amazing array of lights and lighted displays, dozens of decorations, twice-nightly costume contests, kids’ games, and trick-or-treat stations hosted by area businesses and organizations. This year’s event will be larger than ever with more lights, new lighted sculptures, multiple entrances and more space inside the zoo than ever before!

“Boo at the Zoo is Idaho Falls’ largest merry-not-scary Halloween event,” says David Pennock, zoo director. “And this year, thanks to the zoo’s acquisition of the former county fairgrounds, your Boo experience will be bigger and better than ever.”

You’ll enjoy many of your favorite displays (like the popular pirate ship) as well as new themes including Harry Potter in the Children’s Zoo, princesses in the gift shop, and Minecraft in the Primate Center. The zoo is thrilled to again welcome back Timberline Garrison and their special photo backdrop on Friday evening only. Guests can pose with costumed Star Wars characters that night. Timberline Garrison is a local chapter of the 501st Legion, a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans.

New this year, Barcel, the maker of Takis and Boo at the Zoo sponsor is giving away a free stuff sack to event attendees (one per family, while supplies last) with coupons from Texas Roadhouse and the Marmo/Lehto Ice Arena.

To accommodate the crowds, the zoo has opened up space on the former county fairgrounds for more booths, added a third entrance, and added ten additional trick-or-treat stations in the area south of the zoo. You can now enter the event on the north, south, and east sides of the zoo. Parking for the event will be located in the field north of the zoo, throughout Tautphaus Park, and limited space in the former county fairgrounds lot. A map of the event can be accessed by clicking here.
