This two-hour experience will give any human, young or old, the opportunity to become a mermaid or merman. During the experience, a trained mermaid instructor will teach students how to put the tail on and take it off safely, along with basic movements in the water and fun mermaid games.

Scouts must be able to pass the Lifesaving Swim Test, which is a 400-yard continuous swim which must be completed in a strong manner. Scouts who do not complete this test will have the option of receiving a refund or credit (subject to a $5 processing fee) or remaining in the class (no refund or credit will be given). If a Scout remains in the class but does not complete the Lifesaving Swim Test, they cannot earn any other requirements.
Parents/Leaders are asked to remain for at least the first 20 minutes of class in case a Scout does not complete the Lifesaving Swim Test.
Meets requirements for BSA Lifesaving Merit Badge with the exception of CPR. Participants must be 11 years old and be able to satisfactorily complete all skills and take the CPR for Scouts class in order to pass off merit badge. Scouts must bring a signed Merit Badge Application (blue card) to this class.

Class Meets the CPR/AED requirements for First Aid and Lifesaving Merit Badge. Please review all CPR/AED skills listed in Merit Badge book before coming to class. No certification earned for this class. However, it must be taken to earn Lifesaving or First Aid Merit Badge. Scouts must bring a signed Merit Badge Application (blue card) to this class.

Calling all bat fans! See the zoo in a whole new light (or, in this case no light)! Join us for the second summer of Bat Night at the Zoo. Bat experts with BYU-Idaho and Veolia Nuclear Solutions will introduce you to the bats of Idaho, why they’re important, and how your zoo is helping expand the knowledge of local bats. We’ll start with a brief presentation for the adults and activities for the kids in the Maeck Education Center. As it gets dark, we’ll go in to the zoo and explore the bats the visit each night to feed. Cost of the event is $5.50 per person ages 4 and over. 3 and under is free. You’ll discover bats really are the super heroes of the animal world!

Explore the wonderful world of animals in depth and challenge your understanding of the sciences. Students must be in 5th grade or older. Does your child want to be a zoo keeper or biologist when they grow up? If so, then this is the camp for them. Learn what a zoo keeper does, participate in biology experiments, and have some close encounters with zoo animals.
